Cryptic Councils in Tasmania |
The Cryptic Rite in Tasmania is under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland and, as such is a part of the District Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Tasmania
The Rite was originally established in America and was introduced to Scotland in 1887.
It met with little success until 1915 when the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland took it under its jurisdiction and added it to the Royal Arch series. It has now reached the stage where approx. 1/4 of all Scottish Royal Arch Chapters have a Cryptic Council attached to them.
The ritual is based on events during the building of King Solomon's temple and, as such, compliments the Royal Arch Series.
The degrees worked are Royal Master, Select Master and Supreme Excellent Master.
Membership is open to all Royal Arch Masons.
There are six Councils in Tasmania as follows:-
| The Hobart | Meeting at Lindisfarne Hobart | |
| City of Glenorchy | Meeting at Glenorchy Hobart | |
| Devon | Meeting at Latrobe | |
| Ramsay | Meeting at Burnie | |
| St.Andrew | Meeting at Launceston |
